The Atlanta Pizza Guide

When in Atlanta, do as Atlantans do. I speak for countless city dwellers when I say I don’t need a Thirsty Thursday or Friday night to indulge in a jumbo slice plus glass and vine. Whenever all else fails, pizza is my only solace, and that calls for a slice for every occasion. No other food exists that tugs my heartstrings. The pies of Atlanta are ones I treasure most and has a “pizza” my heart. Hence, exploring the prized tomato pies in metropolitan Atlanta is worthwhile.

The Atlanta pizzascape is undoubtedly not as mastered as our iconic ghetto burger and varsity dog. Still, we’re known for magnificent folded or forked pizza pie that you can’t help but stuff a mouthful. Atlanta undeniably has some of the best pizza adaptations from across the world. If your Summer diet has been restricted to grilled pizza and Zinfandel or a craft brew, you’ll appreciate this local guide to pizza and vino pair.

The Atlanta Pizza Guide

Taverna Buckhead a Northern Italian inspired spot nestled in an upscale outdoor shopping space in Buckhead. Pizza is their specialty and I was sold on this claim after tasting the California Pizza.

Brezza Cucina & Pizzeria located in Hotlanta’s famous food hall, Ponce City Market. The establishment is abutting Williams Sonoma with a rustic feel. The menu consists of pizzas for sunrise and sunset. I’m swooning over the fresh, colorful Cacciatorini and Prosciutto Cotto + Buttermilk Cheddar (ham and cheese) breakfast pizza.

Fritti has pizza(s) validated by Verace Pizza Napoletana Association. Need I say more?

Varuni Napoli is Naples-style pizza from the four ingredients dough to the oven burning. My top choice for pizza is here due to the fluffy crust, no additives or preservatives, and like other pizzerias, in the area, the base is San Marzano Tomatoes which is the best deemed through experts.

Meatballerz these guys are making pizza the unconventional way. The masterminds here decided to fry their pizza dough due to the restaurant being on wheels. The foodtruck is often seen around town managed by a brother and sister dynamic duo. They’re conquering the foodtruck scene and changing the traditional pizza preparation through their nonna’s old school Italian recipes.

Galla’s Pizza offers the Gateway City Buffalo-style pizza meaning slate crust light and crisp yet slightly thick with smoldered edges. Expect to get a mouthful of creamy marinara then cheese, more cheese, and loaded with toppings.

Savage Pizza Little Five Points favorite neighborhood pizza. Made from scratch daily.

Crust Pasta & Pizzeria is trending on Yelp with a solid 4.5 stars.

Antico perfectly tops their delicious Margherita Pizza echoing the colors of the Italian flag. Of course, have other options like the Lasagna Pizza.

Atwoods Pizza Cafe build your personal size pizza here then wait just minutes while it bakes in a n Italian Pavesi Oven with rotating floors for even heat distribution.
